Frequently Asked Questions:
1
Do we need to attend the registrar’s to make our marriage legal?
No, I am licensed to conduct legal ceremonies and solemnise your wedding or civil partnership. I will guide you every step of the way on the paperwork you will need to complete in advance.
2
What is included in a Humanist Ceremony?
You have complete flexibility in the content of your ceremony. You might already have a clear, creative vision of what you’d like to include or you might not! I’m here to help with this, talk through ideas, provide inspiration, so you can figure out what suits you best. I can explain symbolic gestures such as hand-fastings, candle lighting, sand rituals, and the traditional sharing of a drink from a quaich. We can chat through ways in which you can involve other family members, (such as your child), ways that you can add in fun, surprise moments for each other and guidance on writing your vows. Whatever we put together, it will be entirely yours.

Why have a Humanist ceremony?
Because it lets you take ownership of your own big day. Whether that be a beautiful baby naming ceremony, replete with bubble blowing ritual or wedding ceremony conducted in the middle of a tree maze or atop a mountain, your ceremony should be rubber stamped with your personality and tastes.

How can I book you and what happens next?
Firstly, get in touch to find out if I’m available on your date. We can then arrange a wee, informal Zoom chat where you can ask me questions. If you are happy to go ahead with things, then I will send you a booking form and take a deposit.

Secondly, we pop a date in diary to meet up for a chat. This will be really informal and gives me a chance to find out all about the two of you and what you’d like included in your ceremony.
Thirdly, I’ll create a unique first draft of the ceremony and send it to you for your approval. I edit and tweak the script until you feel it is exactly right for you.

Fourthly, I’ll guide you through the legal process and paperwork – namely M10 forms and wedding schedules. You can give me a shout anytime with any questions, bits of advice or wedding niggles you might have.
Lastly, I deliver the ceremony on the day and *drumroll* … by the end of it, you’ll be legally married!
