Humanist Wedding Ceremonies:
Congratulations, you're getting married! Let's get planning your big day.
So, you’ve got your date in the diary and are hopefully, starting to have fun with planning and visiting wedding locations.

The joy of a Humanist ceremony is that you can get married, quite literally, anywhere! In ancient ruins, on islands, on beaches, atop hills with breathtaking views. A cosy, elopement ceremony on a steam train? Roger that. Fancy dress wedding on a seaside clifftop? Let’s do it! (Yes, these last two did indeed happen!) Just be sure to do your research and seek the landowner’s permission. What’s most important is that you pick a location that means the most to you and reflects who you both are.

Civil Partnerships:
Since June 2021, civil partnerships have been available to both same-sex and mixed-sex couples. For some, marriage may not feel like the right option for them. A civil partnership provides you with the same legal rights as a couple, as you would have in marriage.
Please note, Civil Partnerships require an additional fee to be paid to your local registrar’s office for them to process and register your paperwork. See my page about Getting Married In Scotland for more information.

Vow Renewals & Non-Legal Weddings
A vow renewal can be a beautiful way to reaffirm promises to each other that were made many years ago and celebrate your relationship in a way that is entirely yours. Reflect on all that you have faced and accomplished together, share your tales and celebrate all that you have achieved in your marriage. Perhaps you have had to make do with a smaller legal ceremony (thanks pandemic!), and are now planning a bigger occasion to celebrate. You could include a ceremony as part of this day. Although you wouldn’t exchange legal vows, you can share your story with your family and friends, include symbolic gestures or readings, and exchange personal vows and rings.

Baby Naming & Adoption Ceremonies:
For families with no religious beliefs but who still want to formally welcome a new arrival, a Humanist naming ceremony provides the perfect alternative. I will work closely with you to create a ceremony that is as unique and as special as your wee star of the show!
Naming ceremonies can take place anywhere; whether that be a venue, your favourite beach or in the comfort of your own home or garden. You can include symbolic gestures, such a tree planting, a bubble blowing ritual or creating memory boxes for when your child is older.
